Artist’s Bio
Stephan uses ordinary objects and a close study of form to make paintings that transcend the material world they depict. The pictures are not primarily aesthetic or decorative they are worlds of pathos and numen.
Stephan’s work has been published in Stone Canoe: A Journal of Arts and Ideas From Upstate New York. He was the recipient of a Lenore Segan Arts Award given by the Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation in NYC. His work has been exhibited throughout New York and New York City. Stephan is currently an artist with the State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca, NY.
Born in 1970 in Rochester, NY Stephan has lived on both coasts and places in between. He began his artistic training at Syracuse University and received his BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. He currently lives and works in Ithaca, NY.
